Sailfish Fishing in Curaçao: Going 1/1 and 2/2

Fishing Report • September 2 & 4, 2026

It’s always good to see sailfish showing up in the waters around Curaçao — and this past week gave us exactly the action we were hoping for.

After a quieter period, we finally had some good sailfish action offshore, going 1/1 on one trip and following it up with a perfect 2/2 on another.

Sailfish showing up offshore

Sailfish fishing in Curaçao with Speedy Boat Trips

Sailfish fishing in Curaçao can be incredibly exciting while fishing in Curaçao. Seeing one appear behind the boat is already special, but getting the bite, hooking up and successfully bringing the fish alongside the boat is something else entirely.

This past week, everything came together.

We first went 1/1 on sailfish, followed by another trip where we managed a perfect 2/2.

The action wasn't limited to one area either. Two of the sailfish were found while fishing north of our departure point, while another showed up to the south, only around two miles offshore from the inlet at Caracasbaai.

Catch and release

All sailfish caught aboard Speedy are strictly catch and release.

Once alongside the boat, our priority is a quick and safe release. After three successful hookups this week, all three sailfish went back into the Caribbean.

3 bites. 3 sailfish. 3 releases. Circle hooks and a Mo Head Chugger

Two of the sailfish were caught using circle hooks, while the third came up and struck a 7-inch Mo Head Chugger lure.

All three fights were relatively quick, at around 15 minutes each. Once hooked up, we backed Speedy down hard on the fish to close the distance as quickly as possible.

For us, getting the fish to the boat quickly isn't just exciting — it also helps us minimise fight time and put the fish in the best possible condition for release.

Hopefully they’re here to stay

Fishing can change quickly, which is part of what makes heading offshore so exciting. You never know exactly what the day will bring.

For now, we're just happy to see sailfish showing up again around Curaçao.

Hopefully, they're here to stay.

And with a new week ahead, Speedy is ready to get back offshore.

Here I'd use a second image: the anglers, boat, spread or another shot from one of the trips rather than another identical sailfish
